What do I need to bring to class and what does Studio One provide?

Actually, it depends on what class you are taking.

ATTIRE

For regular Yoga, Pilates, or Yogates classes, we suggest loose fitting shorts, capris, or warm-up pants, but not so loose that they are baggy.  Tank tops are recommended for full arm rotation and comfort.  These classes are done barefooted.

For Hot Yoga, shorts and tanks for all (or sports “bras” for women) as you will sweat A LOT in this class and anything you are wearing will be soaked when you are done with the class.  This class is also done barefoot.  You will also want to bring a change of clothes.

For Body Sculpting and cardio classes (Zumba™ or Kickboxing), we recommend a t-shirt or tank top and shorts, capris, or warm-up pants, whatever you feel the most comfortable in.  For Body Sculpting and Kickboxing, any type of athletic sneaker is fine as long as it has a good tread.  To try Zumba™ for the first time, any good cross-training sneaker will do.  If you plan on doing Zumba™ regularly, we recommend you wear dance sneakers or fitness shoes that have minimal tread especially on the ball portion of the foot (see photo at right).  This is to prevent potential knee strain.

EQUIPMENT

First, while we do offer the use of complimentary hand towels for our Value Members when available, we encourage you to bring your own.  For all others, hand towels are 50’ per use.

For Yoga, Pilates, and Body Sculpting, we recommend 1/4” Yoga & Pilates Mats.  You can get them here at the studio for $15 or purchase them from another vendor.  We also rent mats for $1 per use, but if you're going to do any of these classes on a regular basis, we recommend you purchase your own mat for hygienic reasons.

For Hot Yoga, we recommend a Mysore Rug or large beach towel because you sweat A LOT and the sweat will make your mat very slippery unless you have something covering your mat to catch it.  The rugs create better traction so if you are going to do Hot Yoga regularly you may want to purchase one from us or online.  Large towels are also available to rent for $1. We also recommend a large plastic water bottle for Hot Yoga as you will need to stay hydrated during the class. **It is recommended that you drink PLENTY of water during the day before HOT YOGA due to the tremendous amount of water loss during class and that you bring either a piece of fruit or an electrolyte-replenishing drink (like Gatorade) for after class.

For Body Sculpting and Zumba™ Toning, neopryne weights (1-10 lbs) are available.  If just starting a fitness program utilizing weights, please start with lighter weights than you think you might need until you have been taught proper form by your instructor.  This is to keep you from accidental injury due to hyperextension.  Remember, you can always go up in weights as you progress.

YOGA PROPS

We also have a wide variety of Yoga Props (blocks, straps, bolsters, and blankets) for class use.  You do not need to bring your own.

YOGA MAT STORAGE

We have an optional yoga mat storage unit for members who don't want to carry their mat back and forth to the studio.  If you choose to use the storage unit, we encourage you to put your name on your mat and keep it in a protective yoga mat bag.  However, because of the large number of members and guests that frequent the studio daily, please understand that you store your mat at your discretion.  Studio One is not responsible for missing mats.
